PRESS: Ministry offers 22 bln rbl compensation for seized railcars

MOSCOW, Jan 31 (PRIME) -- The Transport Ministry has drafted a ruling to provide a 22.3 billion ruble compensation to Russian railway operators for almost 10,000 railcars that were seized in Ukraine and Finland, Kommersant business daily reported on Tuesday quoting the document.

The subsidy will amount to 2.2 million rubles per railcar to be provided through a competition. Only operators that are not controlled by a foreign firm or by an offshore company can participate, Kommersant said.

In October 2022, the government approved provision of 1.64 billion rubles of subsidies from the government’s reserve fund to 73 car cargo carriers for losses of at least 258 trucks.
